Grassland: managing soils & weeds

This event will look at practical soil management and sustainable weed control.

The day will include a visit to a croft followed by a Bring-Your-Own soils workshop and question and answer session.

Speakers include independent consultant, Ian Cairns.

Rural Manifesto event - Cairngorms

Take part in one of the Scottish Rural Parliament's Rural Manifesto 2016 events and fill in the blank pages together with all of rural Scotland!

The Manifesto will be a statement of collective ambitions and the actions that are needed to ensure these ambitions are realised for all of our rural communities.

Refreshments will be provided.

Highland Wildlife Fair

Find out what's happening locally for wildlife and how you can help.

There will be stalls showcasing wildlife organisations from across the Highlands, talks on wildlife throughout the day, tours of the campus grounds and cafe available all day.

Dornoch Fibre Fest

This annual celebration of fibre and woollen crafts includes an introductory talk, masterclasses, drop-in sessions and sales tables.

This year's Masterclasses include: Machine Embroidery, Indigo Dyeing and Fair Isle Knitting.

There will also be free drop-in sessions on embroidery, crochet, fabric paiting and English patchwork.

World Canals Conference

The World Canals Conference 2016 will showcase the huge range of exciting and innovative projects underway on and along inland waterways around the globe.

Hosted in Inverness, the gateway to the majestic Caledonian Canal, the conference will showcase the many attractions of the nation’s 137-mile canal network, from the incredible Kelpies – the largest equine sculptures on the planet – and The Falkirk Wheel to the innovative projects in surface water management, asset monitoring and repair and place-making.

Status of Young Women in Scotland: a presentation-consultation event in Highland

This event from YMCA Scotland - Young Women's Movement will be hosted by David Bryan, Hub Manager at Social Enterprise Manager, H&I and supported by Youth Highland.

They are interested in hearing your positive ideas for supporting the leadership of young women in Scotland in the drive for gender equality.

In their presentation-consultation session, they'd like to share findings of their recent research into the status of young women in Scotland, raise questions and hear your ideas about what they can do to strengthen gender equality over the next twenty years.

Second Highland Haggis Festival

A two day Festival over the weekend of the 16th to 17th April 2016.

Venues include the local village halls, Nevis Range ski centre, local restaurants and the village primary school.

Say farewell to 2015 and welcome in 2016 in style with Dornoch's Hogmanay celebrations! There are events throughout the day and night from 31 December until 2 January.
