Rural Crime Prevention Day

The event is being co-ordinated by Wildlife Crime Liaison Officer PC Dan Sutherland and will see Constables from Road Policing Unit, Representatives from NFU, Crimestoppers, and CESAR (Construction Equipment Security and Registration) coming together to provide information and advice on all aspects of rural security and crime prevention.

Introduction to Sheepdogs Course

This will be an introduction to the care and working of sheepdogs. This will be a practical course where the tutor will demonstrate simple commands. Attendees will be able to under-supervision work the tutor dog. 
If you wish to bring your own dog please make arrangements with course organiser first.

Now in its second year, Dornoch's annual Whisky Festival includes a tasting with legendary Charles Maclean, as well as tours of Glenmorangie, Glen Ord, Balblair, Clynelish and Teaninich distilleries.

Central to the Dornoch Whisky Festival is the Gala Tasting held in the world renowned Castle Hotel. Featuring local distillers such as Balblair, Clynelish, The Dalmore, Glenmorangie, Glen Ord, Old Pulteney, Wolfburn & The Dornoch Distillery as well as Gordon & McPhail, Ben Nevis and Douglas Laing.

A practical course that will look into all aspects of lambing including:

Preparation for Lambing including ewe nutrition; Lambing Management including disease prevention and control; The mothering ewe including condition scoring; Practical Session including medication administration.

An introduction to Scottish agriculture directly related to crofters and smallholders. Peer to peer support and a face-to-face training event with industry experts to give you a step up to starting out in crofting, taking on a croft or to update your knowledge and develop your crofting business.
