2024 WHIALite Programme

As part of The Wild Deer Best Practice guidance collection, Steering Group partners, led by NatureScot and Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) developed a simplified methodology for assessing the impacts of grazing herbivores on woodland habitat.

After the conference had to be cancelled back in 2020, UHI are now looking to bring students together once more to talk about Nature.

Rural Housing Scotland is a Scottish Charity which works to deliver sustainable rural development through community action and affordable housing development. They provide practical support and advice to guide communities who want to tackle their housing need. They also campaign for the government to deliver more affordable housing in rural Scotland and to recognise rural housing need. They provide expert knowledge, through decades of working with rural communities, to help shape policy and to amplify rural voices.

The Integrated Land Use conference will take place 26 - 28 March 2024 in, and around Kingussie.

This year will be focussing on where we have come from and where we are going in terms of land management and use. What has changed and what has worked. Many aspects will be discussed like community, attitude/behaviour evolution, inclusivity, diversity, forestry, agriculture, wildlife and game management, energy, tourism and many more exciting topics.

 Crofters and the wider community are invited to attend an informal drop-in session where Commission staff and support organisations will be on hand to offer support. The first session will be held on Monday 6th of November from 5-8pm in Lochinver Village Hall

The conference is a joint venture between Highland Hospice, Highland Third Sector Interface and Connecting Carers, supporting the delivery of health and social care across the Highland region.

The purpose of the Conference is to promote partnership working across all sectors and to ask the third sector to:

There will be local growers and experts on hand to tell us all they know.

The first workshop will be at Broadford Village hall on Saturday 7th October and then it will be repeated at Achmore Village hall the following week on Saturday 14th October. Each session will run from 1pm to 4pm.
