Young women are being invited to apply to take part in a new leadership programme.

The Young Women's Movement is creating a new leadership programme called Young Women Lead are are looking for self-identifying women aged 16-30 from across Scotland, including rural areas.

This programme will create a unique and exciting safe space to hear the voices of young women in Scotland. Young Women Lead will in part focus on increasing young women's political participation.

WoodWorks Enterprise Taster Event

There is a great opportunity coming up for young folk in Scotland, with particular emphasis on Fife, though all are welcome.  This is a chance for young people who are interested in or have made a start establishing a woodland based business to come along and find out about the support that the WoodWorks  programme could offer.  

The Young Friends of the Earth Scotland AGM will take place on Saturday 14 October at Glasgow Autonomous Space in Glasgow. 

Strengthening Communities Conference - September 2017

A summary report from the recent ‘Strengthening Communities Conference' is now available.

The HIE event took place in Aviemore on 21-22 September 2017. Around 250 people attended from a wide range of organisations such as community groups, social enterprises, development officers, support agencies and policy staff who have a focus on community-led local development.

Your views are wanted in a consultation on free bus passes for older and disabled people and Modern Apprentices.

The Scottish Government is launching this Consultation to seek your views on the concessionary travel scheme for older and disabled people ("the Scheme").

In this report, Nicola Hill Programme Manager for Dumfries & Galloway LEADER tells us about the Amaze Me LEADER 2017 event. Dumfries & Galloway LEADER supported young people from the region to the attend the international event.

Amaze Me LEADER Finland 2017 was an international adventure seminar aimed at young people aged between 18 and 28. The event was hosted by five Local Action Groups around Lake Saimaa: Pohjois-Kymen Kasvu, Veej’jakaja, Rajupusu, Piallysmies and Lansi-Saimaa.

The Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) is one of the charities to benefit from a recent tractor run fundraiser.

The tractor run was organised by NFU Scotland's Highland Perthshire branch and raised thousands of pounds for local charities, including RHET.

A cheque for £1,122 was presented to Alix Ritchie, RHET Project Co-ordinator for Perth & Kinross at the Aberfeldy Show.

The 2017 SURF Awards are now open for entries in five categories.

The SURF Awards are open to all community regeneration projects in Scotland that are currently in place or that have been completed within two years of the closing date.

The British Farming Awards are open for nominations in 14 categories. The deadline for entering and making nominations has been extended until 21 July 2017.

These annual awards celebrate the creative thinking, innovation and dedication of Britain's farmers. The awards aim to showcase innovation and adaptability - no matter the size and scale of the business.

So if you know an outstanding Scottish farm, farmer or agricultural student why not nominate them for an award?

Outer Hebrides LEADER are seeking applications for their October 2017 deadline.

The Outer Hebrides LEADER 2014-2020 Programme has supported a number of projects and the Local Action Group, who manage the funds, are seeking applications from businesses and community groups who would like to introduce and develop new and innovative ideas focussing around young people, crofting diversification, renewables and new activities for visitors and locals to enjoy and experience.
