Three tourism projects in Argyll and Bute’s island communities have received funding from the Scottish Government’s Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund (RTIF).

The projects were selected from 11 proposals under the Argyll and Bute Strategic Tourism Infrastructure Development (STID) Plan, initially developed by local groups and charities across nine islands.

Rural Scotland covers 94% of the land but faces significant challenges, such as housing shortages, poor healthcare access, and tensions over land use. These issues impact both rural communities and the environment.

Local authorities could be given the optional power to introduce a tax on cruise ships that visit their areas in future.

The Scottish Government is seeking views on the practicalities of such a levy, as well as the potential market implications and effect on local economies and communities.

East Lothian Agritourism Showcase

Paul MacLennan MSP and Scottish Agritourism invite you to an event showcasing support for the agritourism sector in East Lothian. The agenda will include presentations, discussion, networking and a panel session with representatives from Scottish Government, East Lothian Council, national sector body Scottish Agritourism and East Lothian agritourism business owners, who will also share their first hand experiences of starting and growing an agritourism businesses in the area.

This years Scottish Agritourism Conference took place in Perth over the 18 and 19 of November. 

A range of sessions took place over the two conference days including, a wide variety of speakers and panellists all relevant to the Sector. There was a real buzz around the venue as delegates connected and networked with exhibitors, sponsors and each other.

Thirty tourism businesses, social enterprises and community groups have been supported to help the South of Scotland become one of the leading cycling destinations in the world.

The £300,000 South of Scotland Cycling Infrastructure Fund provided capital grants of £3,000 to £25,000 to the organisations who own visitor facing assets to invest in their cycling facilities.
