Major hotels, tourist attraction and holiday park secure Green Key certification

Twenty-one new tourism establishments from across Scotland have been announced as the recipients of the coveted Green Key eco-certificate.

The Dallas Dhu distillery in Moray is set to reopen as a working distillery under the management of Aceo Distillers Company Limited.

While Historic Environment Scotland (HES) will retain guardianship of the site on behalf of Scottish Ministers, Aceo will take over the management of distillery operations.

Stranraer Oyster Festival

Stranraer Oyster Festival is supported by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Major Events Strategic Fund, EventScotland’s National Events Funding Programme and South of Scotland Enterprise. The work of Stranraer Development Trust is also supported by Kilgallioch Community Fund.

MSPs have backed a range of technical updates to the short-term lets licensing scheme in response to engagement with accommodation operators.

Licensing was introduced in 2022 to provide assurance to guests on safety and quality, such as gas and electrical safety compliance and the suitability of hosts.

MyParkScotland have announced the launch of the first round of the Parks4Life Community Fund. 

The primary goal of the Parks4Life Community Fund is to support community groups to deliver on their aim in bringing their parks to life and make the best of our parks for everyone to enjoy now and in the future.

To help share learning and inspire community organisations, Scottish Rural Network have published a trio of video case studies focusing on rural and island community resources and spaces.

Scottish Agritourism Conference 2024

Walk & Talk at Scalpsie Farm, Bute

Farmstrong are holding a Farm Walk & Talk this coming Wednesday, June 12th,  thanks to Ian Dickson who runs Scalpsie Farm on Bute.

Starting with lunch at the Kingarth Hotel at noon, the farm tour will follow, and finish up with a talk from Michael Blanche.

An optional extra, is to bring your togs and a towel for a touch of wild swimming at Scalpsie Beach!
