RHET Volunteer Training Night

Due to the continued success of The Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) in Perth & Kinross they have organised a Volunteer Training Night on Monday 29 January 2018 at Letham St Marks Church Centre, Perth from 7 – 9pm.
Chair Emily Grant has invited all current and potential volunteers to come along to learn tips and techniques on how to teach pupils about food and farming.
Emily said:
"Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and we rely on them to host farm visits, help at events and deliver visit classroom talks. Being a Classroom Speaker can be a daunting prospect and this training night is an informal evening to let volunteers learn and try techniques and familiarise themselves with our range of resources."
Current volunteers are encouraged to come along to share their knowledge and experience and new volunteers will be made most welcome.

Phil Differ is the headline stand-up act for the upcoming Comedy Night to raise funds for RHET Perth & Kinross – a charity dedicated to educating children across the region about food, farming and the countryside.
The Comedy Night will take place at Blairgowrie Town Hall on the evening of Saturday 24 February 2018 and tickets can be purchased on EventBrite (search ‘RHET Comedy Night’).
Phil Differ has a career spanning over thirty-five years and been behind many of Scotland’s best loved comedy shows including Chewin’ the Fat, Still Game and Offside. M.C. for the night is another well-known comedian – Graham Mackie who performs regularly in Glasgow and makes regular appearances on BBC Scotland’s Call Kay and The Fred MacAulay Show. Local ‘Stand up Farmer’ Jim Smith is a previous chairman of RHET and is well known across Scotland for his rural humour, impressions and has recently starred in TV Show Scot Squad.

School children from Inchture Primary School recently visited the factory where Mackie's crisps are produced.

Auchterarder pupils visited their local farm to find out more about the links between farming and food.
