Have you been asking yourself:-

  • How can I prepare for changes in agricultural policy?
  • How can I make my croft more sustainable:- economically & environmentally?
  • What can I learn from others to adapt my crofting practice - for climate change, biodiversity, and more?
  • What resources are available to support me?

Answers to these and other questions in our in-person, interactive two day training course.

Day 1:- Friday 7th March, Ollaberry Hall

AM Looking at croft plans; biodiversity & habitat management on crofts; trees on crofts & more. 
PM. We will be joined by RPID - your chance to ask your burning questions about agricultural support and the Whole Farm Plan

Day 2:- Saturday 8th March, Clousta & Girlsta 

AM. Visit to John Abernethy's croft in Clousta. Organic crofting, rotational grazing, Shetland sheep
PM. Visit to Steve Johnson's croft in Girlsta. Peatland restoration, grazing with cattle collars

Members:- £50; Non-members:- £80

The course will be co-designed with participants choosing modules from the following topics:

(i) Land Management; (ii) Animal Management; (iii) Horticulture/Silviculture/Agro-forestry; (iv) Economic Sustainability.
