Discover Iron Age cooking including spit-cooked meat, fish, Crannog stews, locally foraged greens, breads & spreads and themed beverages. Try our ancient craft activities while you’re waiting for a taste of what life was like 2,500 years ago.

All events include museum exhibits, talks around a log-fire in the Crannog roundhouse, demonstrations and hands-on experience of ancient crafts and technologies.

Our annual Celtic Spring Food Festival features open fire, pit and ancient clay oven cooking. Join us to enjoy demonstrations and tasters of fresh local produce including lamb on a spit, herb-stuffed fish baked in clay, soups and stews, breads and spreads, cheese and butter making. You can even wash it all down with samples of a Crannog brew.

The inspiration for this event comes from the discovery of abundant food remains excavated at the 2,500 year old site of Oakbank Crannog in Loch Tay. These ancient remains included goat, sheep, cattle, pig, deer and more than 160 edible plants, so plenty to experiment with, then and now!

Booking essential for large groups, otherwise just come along and enjoy the fun.
