Adding Value to Farm Produce

New Entrants to Farming Programme's first ever 'Adding Value to Produce - an Introduction' course.

This course is for you if a shift from selling livestock and crops to selling food and drink, ready for the consumer, is buzzing around your mind in muddled thoughts. It is aimed at new entrants and young farmers with drive and enthusiasm who want to take that first step in exploring and organising these ideas.

Buildings for Biodiversity Conference

Tay Landscape Partnership (TayLP) are delighted to offer a one-day conference on 9 November 2017 to raise awareness of how important both rural and urban buildings are to the survival of key species like swifts, barn owls and bats and to explore cost effective ways to accommodate them, whilst avoiding delays to work, and complying with the law.

Who should attend
The event has been designed to appeal to professionals who plan, build, repair, maintain and manage buildings.

A series of workshops is about to start as part of the Farm Advisory Service's New Entrants Programme.

Scotland’s Farm Advisory Service (FAS) is part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) which is co-funded by the EU and Scottish Government. It provides information and resources aimed at increasing the profitability and sustainability of farms and crofts.

Wood Works Enterprise Taster Weekend

Are you 18-24 years old, interested in setting up a woodland enterprise or developing your crafting skills with a view to selling your hand made products?

Then why not join us for this free taster weekend to try out new skills and think business!

WoodWorks Enterprise Taster Event

There is a great opportunity coming up for young folk in Scotland, with particular emphasis on Fife, though all are welcome.  This is a chance for young people who are interested in or have made a start establishing a woodland based business to come along and find out about the support that the WoodWorks  programme could offer.  

Digital skills training session

Voluntary Arts Scotland is bringing a digital skills training session to Inverness on 4 November, which is being funded by the Scottish Government as part of it's wider Digital Scotland programme delivered through SCVO's Digital Participation Charter Fund.

This training is specifically aimed at people aged 50+ who help run creative activity.

The workshop will cover:

  • How to set up and manage a Facebook group or page

  • Facebook advertising explained

  • How to edit photos and create posters and flyers using Canva 

RSPB Scotland have announced the shortlist for their Nature of Scotland Awards 2017.

The awards find and celebrate the most dedicated and passionate people working to protect Scotland's internationally renowned wildlife and habitats.

The Scottish Seabird Centre has unveiled plans for interactive exhibits to feature in the new proposed national marine centre at North Berwick.

A marine theatre, marine laboratory and a stunning observatory are just some of the planned exhibits at the proposed centre, which aims to become a must-visit destination as well as being a high-quality facility for people who live locally.
