Working for Waders: The Autumn Wader Gathering 2024
Mar Lodge Braemar AB35 5YJ
The Autumn Wader Gathering 2024
Working for Waders is hosting a gathering at Mar Lodge on 21st November so that project partners, wader conservationists and contributors can discuss this year’s breeding season and consider ways to work better together in 2025.
In some parts of Scotland, curlew productivity seems to have been pretty good in 2024. Elsewhere, it’s been extremely poor and the movements of lapwings have proved very confusing to unravel and understand. At this meeting, attendees will be able to discuss what they’ve seen in 2024, consider ways to record their findings and exchange views on what they regard as priorities for future collaboration and work next year.
A wide range of speakers (final specifics to be confirmed) will cover a variety of subjects, allowing attendees to:
- Learn more about data collection and the Working for Waders nest camera work.
- Hear how a conservation group in the South Lakes has improved curlew productivity in lowland grassland.
- Discuss farmer engagement and progress on farm wader clusters.
- Have input on the new Working for Waders predator control guidance (funded by BASC)
- Explore options for future AECS input for wader habitat management
The day will run from 10am – 3:30pm.
Limited to 30 places.
A light lunch will be provided
