Rural Housing annual conference: Strengthening communities

Rural Housing Service are delighted to announce the programme for the 2016 Rural Housing Scotland Annual Conference.
Their main speaker is Margaret Burgess MSP, Minster for Housing & Welfare who will discuss the forthcoming Rural Housing Fund, the Scottish Government’s proposals for affordable housing and the impact of the Land Reform Bill on rural housing opportunities and community empowerment.
The conference will examine affordable housing need in rural Scotland, rural ‘Generation Rent’, and community resilience. Workshops will also explore new approaches to local lettings, rural empty homes, and partnership with landowners, as well as the new expanded Scottish Land Fund and the Land Reform Bill. In this election year the Conference will feature a rural election hustings with representatives from each on the main political parties outlining their visions for rural housing and rural Scotland.
The conference begins with a networking dinner on 25 February.
