Lanarkshire LEADER make first grant award
The Lanarkshire LEADER programme has made its first funding award.
The programme opened in late 2016 and now the LEADER Local Action Group have made a grant offer of £18,220 to Lanark-based award-winning social enterprise CCI Scotland.
With the funding, CCI will carry out feasibility and business planning on a number of potential social enterprise ventures.
CCI deliver a range of health improvement, inclusion and training outcomes to individuals with complex support needs. They have recently moved into new purpose-built facilities and are now ready to investigate areas of opportunity that aim to make the organisation truly sustainable. These include:
- producing and installing handmade play equipment
- delivering high end training and practical experience opportunities in a range of craft, heritage and horticulture skills such as green woodworking and felt making
- the production and processing of locally grown food
If the ideas prove viable then CCI could establish three new social enterprises that will create opportunities for personal development and engagement for individuals who are excluded from the job market due to illness, disability or disadvantage.
