This prehistoric extravaganza represents our Signature Event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Scottish Crannog Centre with expert demonstrations of metalworking, prehistoric pot-making, textiles, basketry, cooking, beads, jewellery, adornment, dug-out canoes trips and much more. Our celebratory Artisan Village will also feature a Market Place where you can purchase many ‘one-of-a-kind’ hand-made craft items.
The Crannog Roundhouse was originally constructed as an archaeological experiment following discoveries underwater at Oakbank Crannog in Fearnan. Once constructed it was decided to open it up to the public so everyone could see how our ancestors lived some 2,500 years ago. Since then the Centre has grown into an internationally renowned focal point for those wishing to discover more about Scotland’s rich and exciting prehistory. Entertaining, enlightening and educational are words often used to describe the Scottish Crannog Centre and our engaging activities.
More news on the Artisan Village will be posted so please watch out for more details.
