Rural Community Transport: A regional focus on Perth & Kinross

Rural Transport Futures will be hosting an event at Birnam Arts – along with the Community Transport Association – the national organisation for community transport, which supports communities across the country. This will bring people together with different experiences to discuss the challenges, opportunities and focus on solutions.

There, the Rural Transport Futures team will be able to share what they have heard from a series of engagement events across the region and explore where there may be potential for collaboration and where support may be most valued and effective.

A Scottish Government-backed deep-water terminal which will support future renewable energy developments and cruise ship opportunities on the Western Isles has been officially handed over to operators by Deputy First Minister Shona Robison.

The Scottish Government is stepping up action to tackle climate change with a suite of new policies on transport, including increasing the number of electric vehicle chargers, and land use.

There are several Scottish Government online consultations currently open, which are of direct relevance to rural and island communities.

Consultations are an important part of government policy development, where views and insights garnered are used by policy areas to develop and inform policies that in turn can be progressed into new Bills or Laws.  Online consultations are a key tool in supporting this activity.

Rest and Be Thankful Public Engagement Events

Public engagement events on the long-term solution at the A83 Rest and Be Thankful are being held from 18 to 21 March at four venues across Argyll and Bute.

The events will provide local communities and road users with the opportunity to meet the designers, as well as view and comment on the design development and the progress towards delivering the medium-term improvements along the Old Military Road (OMR).
