A new regenerative farming event will be held in Scotland this summer. GO Falkland, hosted on the Falkland Estate in Fife, will bring together speakers from across agriculture, agroforestry, soil biology and food provision, to create a one-day discussion forum for farming businesses and others interested in a profitable, sustainable approach to food production and soil health.

A consultation has been launched that will allow planning authorities and communities to share views on the local development planning process as part of the Scottish Governments reform of the planning system. 

Scottish Rural Action (SRA) have announced that this year, the fifth Scottish Rural and Islands Parliament (SRIP) will take place from the 1st to the 3rd of November in Fort William at the Nevis Centre. This year's main theme is 'village halls and community spaces'.
 

Councils empowered to raise money for local tourism

A Bill to enable councils to invest more in local tourism facilities and services through a levy on overnight stays has been published.

Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands Secretary Mairi Gougeon has announced a £1 million increase to the Scottish Land Fund -  a flagship scheme that helps communities take ownership of local land and buildings.

Ms Gougeon visited Granton Community Gardeners project, a previous recipient of support from the Fund.

Building resilience through working with nature and technology

• The role that novel diets have in reducing greenhouse gas emissions with Professor John Newbold.

NatureScot is working with Transport Scotland and Traffic Scotland to display warning messages on electronic variable message signs (VMS) in the areas of the highest risk between May 24 and June 14.

In recent decades, deer populations in Scotland have both increased in number and spread in range, particularly in urban areas and the central belt.
