Young Sea Changers Scotland - Community Gathering 2024

Young Sea Changers Scotland is a charity dedicated to empowering young people aged 16-25 with the skills, knowledge and confidence to speak up for Scotland’s seas. You can read more about us at www.youthforseas.org.

They are inviting young people from across Scotland to come together for a day of training, workshops and celebration of Scotland’s seas and the inspiring people who stand up for them. Get to grips with your marine policy lingo, put your advocacy skills into action and even meet an MSP. There will also be plenty of opportunities for socialising & meeting new people in a relaxed and friendly setting.

This event is specifically aimed at young people aged 16-25 who live in Scotland.

• 10.30 - 11.00 - Arrival, registration and teas/coffees/hot choc
• 11.00 - 11.30 - Welcome and intros from Cal Major and the YSCS team
• 11.30 - 11.45 - Speed networking and chance to chat!
• 11.45 - 11.55 - Break
• 11.55 - 12.10 - Marine policy bingo
• 12.10 - 13.00 - Marine policy challenge
• 13.00 - 14.00 - Vegetarian/vegan lunch
• 14.00 - 14.45 - Talk and Roundtable discussion with Green Mark Ruskell MSP
• 14.45 - 15.00 - Break
• 15.00 - 15.45 - Group workshops. Choose one session from:

1. Crafting a campaign strategy, Hayley Wolcott, Our Seas Coalition
2. Intersectionality and ocean justice with Laura Curtis-Moss, 2050 Climate Group
3. Zine-making for creative ocean advocacy, Christina Riley, Nature Library

Travel costs

Young Sea Changers Scotland are able to provide financial support for anyone where travel costs would be a barrier to participation. Please indicate in advance whether you need to access this support at check out. These costs will be reimbursed to you after the event by providing valid receipts of your expenses.
