12:05am Rachel Cackett, Samaritans - Report on self-harm in Scotland
Self-harm has had limited national focus over recent years, yet the Scottish Health Survey shows that the proportion of adults in Scotland who say they have ever self-harmed has risen from 3% in 2008-09 to 7% in 2018-19.
At the end of October Samaritans Scotland will be launching a new report on self-harm in Scotland. This is the culmination of engagement with people with lived experience, partners working across sectors, Samaritans volunteers, and the general public. Samaritans Scotland want this report to prompt a renewed focus on self-harm and a national debate on next steps.
This seminar will be an opportunity to discuss the findings of the report in remote and rural contexts with Samaritans Scotland Executive Director, Rachel Cackett. The responses Samaritans Scotland will gather on the report over the next few months will be shared with the Scottish Government.
The report will be circulated once published.
