About Muir of Ord Development Trust
The Muir of Ord Development Trust was established in 2011. Taking ownership of key community assets such as The Muir of Ord Village Hall and The Muir Hub (previously a derelict old school building) with an aim to advance community development, including urban and rural regeneration.
They provide comprehensive year-round access to our facilities and a wide-ranging programme of activities for all. Working across the community and the wider Highland network to improve the physical, mental and emotional health and well-being of individuals, groups and to increase and strengthen a sense of community.
The organisation has 3 members of staff and is managed by a board of 8 directors. We also have a network of over 50 dynamic volunteers whose vital input supports the activities and running of the facilities.
The Muir Hub is a vibrant and flexible gathering place – from cinema hire, room hire, retail space for local artists and crafters and a café, run by a local family.
The Village Hall has been a key social hub for 150 years and is now fully refurbished. With new heating and electrics, we’ve ensured that the hall is fit for purpose while keeping our energy use low, in turn keeping costs down for hirers. With 2 previously unused rooms becoming offices they now house a social enterprise organisation – generating income to reinvest into our facilities whilst also supporting further local enterprise.
