Woodland Trust seek local business for hazel project
The Woodland Trust Scotland started recently to coppice hazel at Glen Finglas (Trossachs, Scotland).
Over the next couple of years, we’re planning to implement a small-scale rotation (approx. 20 stools/rotation), involving volunteers, to enhance woodland biodiversity and to produce raw material which can be transformed into sustainable products. We’ve just started our first rotation of approx. 10-15 year old hazel, providing a variety of rods.
So, we’re looking to build a long-term relationship with a local business to turn those hazel rods into sustainable products. In return we’d like to see services delivered on site in kind. The latter can be discussed what shape/form this takes.
If this is of interest to you or want to discuss further than please get in touch with Gwen Raes (Estate Ranger) on 01877 376 340.
