Wanted - academics working in natural capital finance!
The Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) would like to hear from academics working in natural capital finance to support future work in the Scottish Parliament.
They are interested in:
- Carbon credit schemes in nature-based areas (e.g. trees, peatland restoration), and existing carbon markets for these credits.
- Emerging research on biodiversity credits (or other market mechanisms aimed at conserving or restoring biodiversity or other ecosystem services) and markets for these.
- The law around carbon and biodiversity (and other ecosystem service) markets.
- International examples or experiences of carbon/biodiversity credits and markets.
- Implications for land managers, land management sectors and communities in Scotland.
- Implications for land markets, land ownership and land reform in Scotland.
- Other key environmental or socioeconomic implications.
Your input will be used to inform key questions and themes for Parliamentary scrutiny, and to shape future evidence sessions or Parliamentary activities.
Email Dan Barlow Knowledge Exchange Manager – Climate Change Scrutiny on dan.barlow@parliament.scot by Tuesday 12th March with your name, university/institution and email address, and a 200 word paragraph or bullet point list detailing:
- Your areas of expertise.
- Any current or previous work you are/have been involved in (links to publications or projects helpful).
- An indication of whether you have engaged with the Scottish Parliament previously.
- A maximum of five key questions or themes which would benefit from Parliamentary scrutiny in this area.
A submission does not commit you to any further engagement or guarantee that your expertise will be called on and contact details will only be retained until committee papers on this subject have been prepared (likely no later than April). The Scottish Parliament is very grateful for any input which can help to inform understanding of this topic.
