Studio spaces available on Bressay
Shared studio spaces are now available to rent within a large bright, newly refurbished former classroom on the island of Bressay.
The studio overlooks Lerwick harbour and is situated within walking distance of Bressay’s glorious rural views, lochs, beaches, seabird cliffs and many sites of archaeological interest along with easy access to Shetland’s main town.
Four individual spaces with access to a sink and large walk in store cupboard offer a superb environment for creative work.
The studios are operated by Bressay Development Ltd, a not-for-profit community group which developed Bressay’s empty former primary school into a vibrant hub for the island’s community and visitors.
Along with studios and exhibition space for artists the school houses the Speldiburn Cafe and Good As New Shop, a community library and rooms used regularly for meetings, sewing classes, yoga and by the Bressay Under 5s group.
Luna Hearth jewellery design and create handmade jewellery in their studio and gallery, and artists Aimee Labourne and Gunnar Olafsson both have studios in the building. The Speldiburn Cafe currently exhibits work by Australian artist Margaret Worthington.
