Scottish Rural and Islands Transport Community (SRITC) has published their draft report summarising findings from the first stage of their Rural & Islands Mobility Plan (RIMP) project.

The draft is the result of extensive research and insights gathered since 2020, and includes:

  • An assessment of how effectively transport authorities communicate strategies to these communities.

  • A dive into varying attitudes and approaches to transport innovations across national, regional, and local levels.

  • A review of gaps between national and regional transport strategies and the needs of rural and island communities.

SRITC are seeking views from stakeholders and interested parties about the draft report. Insights and feedback during this consultation phase will shape the final report.

You can email SRITC directly at sritc@ruralmobility.scot with your thoughts, ideas, or suggestions by Thursday, 6th February, which is the closing date of the consultation period.

Alternatively, there is an option to attend the next SRITC online "Open Cafe & Chat', which will take place on 31 January (10:00-11:00). The Open Cafe and Chat is a regular informal and interactive session hosyted by SRITC where you can connect/re-connect, share ideas, and discuss the biggest challenges facing rural and island transport in 2025.

Whether you’re new to SRITC or a familiar face, this Open Cafe & Chat is the perfect opportunity to exchange experiences and dive into engaging discussions with like-minded individuals dedicated to enhancing rural mobility. There is allways plenty of time after the presentations for Q&A and an opportunity to share your experiences and stories of living, working and supporting the travel needs of your community.
