SRA needs you!

Scottish Rural Action (SRA) are recuiting! 

SRA is a charity set up in 2013 to support the rural and island movement in Scotland. Primarily funded by Rural Communities policy within the Scottish Government and the Scottish Rural Network (SRN), SRA have developed and delivered the Scottish Rural & Islands Parliaments (SRIP), and last year, the first Scottish Rural & Islands Youth Parliament (SRIYP), which included a delegation of young people from across rural and island Scotland attending the Scottish Parliament, meeting Cabinet Ministers and attendning a parliamentary debate (details here). 

SRA put theiur values of inclusion, diversity, cooperation, democracy and impact into practice through working with their members and partners at national, regional and community levels to:

• build a grassroots-led rural movement in Scotland that connects rural communities with each other and with politicians and decision-makers;
• collaborate with seldom-heard groups to create platforms that better enable their participation in the rural movement;
• collectively develop a cross-sectoral, locally-informed understanding of rural Scotland's economy, society and culture that shapes local practice and national policy;
• deliver the biennial Scottish Rural and Islands Parliament 

Recent work includes working with the Community Led Local Development (CLLD) Youth Local Action Groups (YLAG) to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Youth on 12th August 2024. As part of this work, SRA are seeking to recruit two new posts to the organisation:

• Project Lead - Rural Youth Action Network: Help build momentum and shape the future of an emerging rural youth action network.
• Project Lead - Scottish Rural & Islands Parliament: Support the delivery of both the Scottish Rural & Islands Parliament and the European Rural Parliament.
