SEED: Explore, Develop and Make it Happen with GrowBiz
A new project to support young people in Perth and Kinross to explore, develop and make their self employment dreams happen is being powered by GrowBiz and funded with support from the Gannochy Trust. The year-long SEED (Self Employment + Entrepreneurial Development) programme will include specially designed online learning sessions, mentor and mentee training, networking sessions with inspiring speakers, monthly group meetings, work experience/rural business placements and 1-1 support.
Along with learning and building on many of the skills required to launch a start-up, they will also be encouraged to get involved with their local communities. Successful applicants will also receive grant funding of up to £1000 to help kickstart their enterprise journey.
GrowBiz provides support for anyone starting or growing a business or enterprise in rural Scotland and hopes the SEED programme will highlight to young people the potential self-employment opportunities they can pursue, whilst helping them develop leadership skills and get involved in their local community activities.
Jackie Brierton, CEO of GrowBiz says, “Our experience of working with young people has shown how broadening their horizons with knowledge and connections helps them to raise their aspirations and have more confidence in their abilities.
“Many young people have already developed good ideas for products and services, but have never been given the opportunity or self-belief that they could translate these into viable enterprises. This project will support them with all aspects of turning their ideas into reality.”
Young people living in Perth and Kinross between the ages of 18 and 28 are eligible to apply for the project, which is now open for applications until the 30th of November 2021. It’s free to take part, all that’s asked is that participants commit up to 3 hours per week, including attending the events, which will take place online, and bringing along an open mind and their great ideas.
