Rural Scotland Data Dashboard launched
Last year the Deputy First Minister (DFM) for Scotland committed to publishing a Rural Delivery Plan (RDP) by 2026, showing how all parts of the Scottish Government are delivering for rural Scotland.
As well as policies on agriculture, land reform, marine, and the Islands Plan, the plan will cover areas such as transport, housing, social justice, repopulation, digital connectivity and economic development.
To support the development of this plan, the Scottish Government have launched a Rural Scotland Data Dashboard and supporting report, which presents data on a range of issues that impact rural Scotland. The report synthesises the data included in the dashboard into a broader picture of successes, challenges and trends within rural Scotland. The Dashboard was produced as a compilation of available data evidence to inform the development of the Rural Delivery Plan and provides a broader picture of successes and challenges in rural and island Scotland.
The Rural Scotland Data Dashboard was complied by the Scottish Government’s Rural & Environmental Science and Analytical Services (RESAS) into an easy-to-understand dashboard which presents data on a range of issues that impact people living and working in rural Scotland. It has eight sections:
- Economic development;
- Transport;
- Housing;
- Social justice;
- Population;
- Digital connectivity;
- Education and skills; and
- Health and social care
Additionally, a Ministerial Working Group was established in June 2023 to oversee the development of the Rural Delivery Plan. The group is jointly chaired by the DFM and the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands.
The Scottish Islands Data Dashboard has been published separately giving a detailed picture of evidence on the Scottish Islands.
