Tyne Esk LEADER Project Officer

LEADER is a bottom-up method of delivering support to communities for rural development. Grants are awarded by Local Action Groups [LAG] to projects that support delivery of a Local Development Strategy. The programme covering Midlothian and East Lothian is directed by the Tyne and Esk LAG.

The main duties of the Project Officer will require her/him to:

  • assist the LEADER Co-ordinator and Local Action Group in the delivery of the Tyne Esk LEADER Programme 2015-20 throughout the rural areas of Midlothian and East Lothian
  • facilitate and promote the LEADER Programme across the rural areas of Midlothian and East Lothian by supporting project development, application process and project delivery
  • promote opportunities on LEADER funding to communities, organisations, business and local agencies by a variety of methods and in line with the Tyne Esk Communications Plan
  • provide advice, support and information to potential applicants in relation to the Tyne Esk LEADER Programme, its applications, claims procedures and monitoring activities

Tyne Esk LEADER - Programme Support Assistant

  • Location: Dalkeith
  • Salary: £17,864 - £18,709 per year
  • Hours: 36 hours per week

The main duties of the Support Assistant will require her/him to:

  • provide clerical support to the LEADER team and Local Action Group in the delivery of the Tyne Esk LEADER Programme 2015-20 throughout the rural areas of Midlothian and East Lothian
  • provide a document preparation service through the application of PC software packages
  • be responsible for the maintenance and updating of record systems both manual and computerised
  • provide an enquiry/reception service for internal/external users, answering queries on the relevant service areas and referring enquiries to the appropriate member of staff as required

Business Development Officer - Sleat Community Trust

  • Salary: £30,000 per annum

Over the past 14 years, Sleat Community Trust, has evolved into a thriving community enterprise running a shop and post office, a petrol station, a wireless broadband service, a local tourism group, the community forest and developing a renewable energy project. As part of their ongoing plans, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a full-time Business Development Officer to support the volunteer Board of Trustees and work with the community to achieve the aims of the Trust.

This person will be highly motivated, well organised, be a good communicator and ideally, with experience of community development projects in one or more of our main operational areas. Key skill requirements will include project management, sourcing/managing funding streams and business planning.

Administration and Events Officer - Community Land Scotland

Community Land Scotland is seeking a highly organised Administration and Events Officer to support the work of the organisation. Community Land Scotland is the membership organisation for Scotland’s aspiring and established community landowners. The organisation currently has more than 75 members, an active Board and a small staff team.

Community Land Scotland was set up to influence policy to make it easier for communities to buy land; help its members share knowledge and information, encourage communities to consider landownership and to promote the benefits of community landownership to Scotland. It helps to raise awareness of community landownership and support knowledge exchange between community landowners through the running of local and national events.

LEADER Assistant Project Officer - Orkney LEADER

This is an exciting opportunity to join the LEADER team to take forward the delivery of the 2014 to 2020 LEADER Programme and the community element of the Fisheries Fund (EMFF). LEADER is part of the Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP) and is a funding programme primarily aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas.

They are looking for an Assistant Project Officer to become an integral part of the LEADER team, delivering the two funding streams to Orkney communities.

Wildcat Action Project Officer - Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH)

  • Contract end date: 31st March 2020
  • Location: Aviemore, Battleby or Fort William will be considered
  • Hours: 37 hours per week

Scottish Wildcat Action is a five-year project running to 31st March 2020 funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which will deliver some of the key actions within the Scottish Wildcat Conservation Action Plan (SWCAP). It works in six priority wildcat areas to halt the decline of Scottish wildcats by reducing the threats that are currently limiting the population.

Each Project Officer acts as the point of contact for the project for two of the six wildcat priority wildcat areas and is based in an appropriate geographic location, hosted by one of the Wildcat Action partner organisations. Managed by the Scottish Wildcat Action Priority Areas Project Manager, they work as a team to deliver the project throughout its five-year lifespan. The wildcat priority areas that Scottish Natural Heritage expect the candidate to hold responsibility for are two from the Angus Glens, Northern Strathspey and Morvern areas. A job share may be considered, with candidates splitting responsibilities between geographic areas and specific roles within the land management work stream.

Wildcat Action Communications Coordinator - Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH)

  • Contract end date if temporary: 31st March 2020
  • Location: Edinburgh or Inverness

The Communications Officer will be employed by SNH but jointly hosted and supervised by partner organisations, based at their offices in Edinburgh. This involves four days per week at the Scottish Wildlife Trust, Commercial Street, and one day per week at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, Edinburgh Zoo. SNH will however consider hosting the post in Inverness.

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of Wildcat Action’s Communications Plan. This includes delivery of communications activities which directly deliver project outcomes, as well as activities which will support the other members of the project team and partnership as they work together to deliver the Wildcat Action activity plan.

Land Review Officers - Scottish Government

  • Salary: £23,383 - £26,448

The Scottish Government are currently seeking applications for Land Review Officers within the Rural Payments and Inspections Division based in various locations around Scotland. 

Their Land Review Officers review land parcels (fields) to establish the boundaries and accurately capture details of internal features such as roads, ponds, and vegetative cover as part of a base lining exercise being undertaken to improve the quality of information held to underpin land based agricultural support. The role involves assessing information on the ground utilising mobile GPS equipment, updating of the relevant databases and informing claimants’ accordingly.
