NatureScot – 2 x POBAS Project Officer

Scotland’s Natural Capital Pilot Programme (NCAPP) is a suite of projects to test natural capital and outcomes-based approaches on land, in order to inform future rural policy and land management support schemes.

The POBAS (Piloting an Outcomes Based Approach in Scotland) project is an NCAPP project which aims to test the outcomes based approach in seven pilot areas across Scotland, including the use of scorecards, together with an app which can monitor delivery of outcomes by participating farmers/crofters, and associated website to analyse results. This approach will ultimately allow farmers be paid for the quality of the environmental outcomes delivered, rather than being paid to follow prescriptive management actions.

Postholders will require a good understanding of the agriculture industry, land management and range of habitats within the pilot areas; previous surveying and stakeholder engagement experience along with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Highland Community Waste Partnership – 9 posts

Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and coordinated by Keep Scotland Beautiful, the Highland Community Waste Partnership is a collaboration between eight partner community groups to build a Highland-wide movement for waste reduction and more sustainable consumption.

Each partner will lead on activities that match their interests and expertise, whilst all collaborating to connect activities and resources and engage all stakeholders to play their part in the crucial transition towards a more circular economy and a Net Zero future. In practical terms, this will involve contributing to educational training and events, supporting programme communications and also leading or supporting specific interventions.
