RSABI Welcomes Glenalmond as First Supporter Scheme School
RSABI, the charity which supports people in Scottish agriculture, has this week welcomed Glenalmond College as the first-ever school member of its Supporters’ Scheme.
The Perthshire school with 360 boys and girls, both day pupils and boarders, welcomed RSABI vice-chairman David Leggat and Highland bull Donald to mark the occasion.
The Highland Cattle Society is also a great supporter of RSABI and Donald was accompanied by his owner Grace Noble of Aberdeenshire Highland Beef who took the opportunity to speak with pupils and staff about her experiences as a farmer and rural entrepreneur.
Glenalmond College is located on 300 acres of upland Perthshire and, as well as being surrounded in farmland, the school is pleased to share its grounds with a fantastic array of wildlife, including a thriving population of Red Squirrels.
“We are very proud of Glenalmond’s rural heritage and our many country connections,” said Dr Michael Alderson, Head of Glenalmond College.
“We are therefore delighted to be the first school members of RSABI’s Supporters’ Scheme and to be able to help this excellent charity with the valuable work it does to support people involved in agriculture who have found themselves in difficult times.”
David Leggat, who will take over the reins as Chairman of RSABI next month, said RSABI very much appreciates Glenalmond’s support.
“The work delivered by RSABI to provide emotional, practical and financial support for individuals and their families is invaluable and we very much depend on our supporters to ensure we are able to meet demand for these vital services.”
The charity recently launched an appeal to attract 500 additional supporters and Mr Leggat said it was fantastic to have a well-regarded school like Glenalmond among its new supporters.
“We’re helping around 25 to 30 new clients every month, and we expect demand for our services to continue to increase in the coming months so Glenalmond’s support, and enthusiasm for the work of the charity, is extremely welcome.”
