News from Scottish Human Rights Commission

As part of Scotland’s National Action Plan for Human Rights, the Scottish Human Rights Commission are looking for people with direct experience of poverty, including people from rural areas, to join a reference group.

They will work together with the group to identify and promote ways in which human rights can tackle poverty and the barriers to achieving an adequate standard of living in Scotland.

To be a part of the group, people should be willing to share their experiences, listen to other people, think about experiences different from their own and have an interest in human rights. People do not need to know about human rights to take part.

The first meeting of the group is likely to take place in late August 2015 in Glasgow. Meetings are likely to happen every six to eight weeks, but dates will be agreed together by group members.

For more information about the reference group, visit the Scottish Human Rights Commission’s website.

The Commission will be happy to support people with travel costs and other costs associated with taking part.
