The National Centre for Remote & Rural Health and Care (the Centre) officially launched this month.
The goal of the Centre is to support the delivery of improved care for remote, rural and island communities across Scotland; to reduce remote, rural and island health and wellbeing inequalities; and to achieve this through focused work on improving the sustainability, capacity, and capability of remote, rural and island Primary care and community-based workforce and service delivery.
With an initial focus on the provision of primary care and community services, NES is leading work to establish the Centre. This includes working closely with stakeholders to develop the Centre to serve all Scotland’s remote, rural and island populations, harnessing innovation, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach to local healthcare challenges and making use of virtual networks and existing community spaces.
