New guide for community facilities published

A new guide on aquiring and redeveloping community facilities has been published online.

Geoff Fagan, from the charity Cadispa, and Drennan Watson, formerly of Landwise Scotland, have co-authored the guide to help management committees with updgrading and redeveloping community buildings in rural Scotland.

The guide is designed to help local people assess the risks of ownership of community facitilies and to help the path to ownership to be as smooth as possible. It includes information on strengthening your management committee, consulting with the local community, getting planning permission and a building warrant and much more.

Community volunteers on committees are also invited to send their suggestions for improvement to the guide to Drennan Watson at rdw@ontel.com. The guide will be reviewed in the light of these contributions.
