National Islands Plan Review – consultation events
Scotland’s first ever National Islands Plan (NIP) was published in 2019 and it is now going through its first review. The purpose of the NIP is to provide a framework for action in order to meaningfully improve outcomes for island communities.
The aim of this review is twofold. Firstly, it will provide a detailed overview of the impact of the current National Islands Plan since its publication. Secondly, it will inform (if the review tells us we need one) a new National Islands Plan. It is therefore vital that the views and feedback from those most impacted by the Plan – island communities, relevant sectors and partners – can inform and engage with this work going forward.
The consultation is available online with a closing date of 7 November and you can access it here.
The Scottish Government Islands Team is also running a series of island and virtual workshops over September and October, with a final hybrid session planned for the Scottish Rural & Island Parliament in Fort William over 1 to 3 November*.
