Local food network for Stirlingshire proposed

Stirlingshire businesses, from butchers and bakers to local food makers, are invited to share their ideas for a new local food network.

Forth Valley & Lomond LEADER and Stirling Council want to hear from local food businesses across the Stirling region that are interested in working together to promote local food.

A free event will take place at Made in Stirling, 44 King Street, next Tuesday (12 November) from 9.30am-12 noon to gather views and develop the proposal.

Chair of Forth Valley & Lomond Leader, Douglas Johnston said:

"The meeting is an opportunity for local food businesses to get together and explore the possibility of setting up a new network for food businesses here in Stirling. It’s open to everyone involved in local food, from farmers to restaurants and everything in between, and we’ll be looking at ways businesses can work together to strengthen the region’s food sector."

Attendees will also hear from the coordinator of Food from Fife, Martha Bryce, who will share her experience of running this regional food group.

Martha said:

"Food From Fife is a growing network of diverse businesses involved in food and drink in the region. The network brings together those in the industry with the aim of growing food and drink and food tourism in Fife. I’ll be sharing what we’ve learned, touching on the merits and challenges of working collaboratively."
