LEADER funding for glamping venture
North Aberdeenshire LEADER have awarded a grant to a new glamping venture, which is hoped will boost tourism in the area.
A grant of up to £33,548.62 has been awarded to the Buchan Development Initiative to help install a new glamping area in the Aden Caravan and Camping Park.
The project will see three new high-quality glamping pods to the park, with wifi and security networks. This new branch to the business will open up the choice available to consumers, attracting new markets and encouraging growth in the local economy.
Buchan Development Initiative Director Charlie Scott said:
"Aden is the perfect location for walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and those seeking an outdoor experience. Aden Country park has recorded the highest number of visitor numbers in the shire in 2015 with 298,368 recorded. (Visit Scotland) Over the last two years there has been an increase in enquires asking for rented accommodation on at Aden Caravan Park. There is no letting accommodation available on the site at present. By providing sturdier glamping pods we hope to increase income during the low season which will be re-invested in the area."
Chair of the North Aberdeenshire Local Action Group, Duncan Leece, said:
"We are delighted to help make this project happen, and hope that the investment in this exciting project is the first of many in the area. I would encourage any business or organisation with a local development project in mind to get in touch."
The North Aberdeenshire Local Action Group is responsible for the allocation of £3.3m of European Union and Scottish Government funds for Community Led Local Development. Businesses and community groups are eligible to apply for innovative and sustainable projects that meet the Local Development Strategy themes of Place, Connectivity, Business Competitiveness, Better Opportunities and Cooperation.
