Crofting's New Voices film launched

Meet the new generation of crofters in the 'Crofting's New Voices' short film

Crofting's New Voices was filmed earlier this year at the Scottish Crofting Federation's Young Crofters 20:20 Gathering in Assynt. In the film, young and aspiring crofters share their hopes for the future.

They value their connections to the land. They want to work the land and make their homes there. But against them stands unaffordable land and housing, and a lack of employment opportunities in the rural communities they love.

Following the event, a Young Crofters branch of the Scottish Crofting Federation was set up to provide a voice for young crofters through political advocacy, training, support and networking, as well as engaging with crofters of all generations to promote active crofting and sustain its legacy, tradition and culture.
