Community Space Fund launched in Moray
Moray Pathways has launched a Community Space Fund to improve employability services within community spaces and improve digital connectivity and accessibility in the area.
Village halls and community hubs are often the heart of rural and island communities. They are places for people to gather, socialise, learn and crucially, to access services.
The fund has been created to strengthen access to services and address the barriers to digital inclusion. The fund is supported by the Moray Pathways local employability partnership and Communities CLD Team, which is funded by Scottish Government.
Moray Pathways is the local employability partnership and includes a large network of employment support organisations and local employers from the public, private and third sector. They support individuals who require additional help into fair and sustainable jobs.
The objectives of the fund are to:
- Strengthen social fabric and foster a sense of local pride and belonging, through investment in activities that enhance physical, cultural and social ties and amenities, such as community infrastructure and local green space, and community-led projects.
- To build resilient and safe neighbourhoods, through investment in quality places that people want to live, work, play and learn in, through targeted improvements to the built environment and innovative approaches to crime prevention.
The funding is intended to facilitate the delivery of Moray Pathways employability services within community spaces and improve digital connectivity and accessibility in the area. This includes, but is not limited to:
- A welcoming, safe, inclusive space
- Accessible facilities for the use of the local community and Moray Pathways Partners
- Digital connectivity and accessibility, including the development of digital skills.
Organisations can apply for up to £16,000. This can be made up of £10,000 for revenue costs in relation to funding Community Spaces and £6,000 for capital expenditure in relation to Digital Infrastructure (Connectivity and Accessibility).
