CARES is open for applications

The Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) is now open for applications.

Help and funding is available for communities, charities, local authorities, housing associations and rural businesses looking to install renewables and get local energy projects up and running.

The need to take action to reduce carbon emissions has never been more important and CARES can help you make a difference within your community. If the Global Climate Emergency and net zero targets have inspired you to take action but you’re not sure what kind of renewables project you’d like to take forward, you could use CARES funding for an options appraisal or feasibility study.

There are lots of project models and examples on the Local Energy Scotland website to help you to start thinking about what might work in your area. 

Funding is available across three different grants and loans, designed to respond to the emergence of new innovative projects. The current funding round is open for applications until 31 January 2020.

The Local Energy Scotland team are on hand to help you with your application and help you identify which funding stream to apply for – just get in touch with your local Development Officer who can discuss your ideas and help you through the process.
