Application deadline approaches for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund

The deadline for applications to the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (KTIF) is Thursday 2 February 2017.

KTIF is designed to support projects that increase farmers’ skills and knowledge by delivering training, coaching, courses and farm visits, and by supporting on-the-ground improvements in competitiveness, efficiency and sustainability.

Operational Groups (OGs) should submit their applications as soon as possible. OGs can be made up of different individuals or organisations – one of which must be a farmer - working collaboratively. 

KTIF will pay all running costs for projects which seek to improve competitiveness and/or sustainability. Schemes designed to increase farmers’ skills and knowledge are required to self-fund part of their project, with KTIF making up the rest of the cost.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 2 February 2017.

The Project Assessment Committee (PAC) will meet to consider applications on Tuesday 14 February 2017.

Examples of projects that are currently being supported by KTIF include the Live Lambs project, where farmers, vets, researchers and advisors come together to think of new ways to increase lamb survival.

The Soil Association Scotland's Future Farming Scotland programme is part-funded by KITF. This project provides information sessions, DIY farm trials and resources for farmers, growers and crofters across Scotland, supporting them to explore techniques that are good for the environment as well as for their businesses. Future Farming Scotland recently won the Food and Farming category at the Nature of Scotland Awards.
