Amaze Me Leader 2018 - registration open
An exciting adventure experience for young people aged 18-29 will bring youths from all over Scotland and Europe to Dumfries and Galloway for a week this Summer (5th – 12th August).
Amaze Me Leader 2018 is a week of exciting adventure based activities for young people to explore living in a rural context and the challenges associated with this. The event is being delivered by Sleeping Giants Community CIC on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway LEADER.
The young people participating in the event will form teams, and will drive across Dumfries and Galloway in 10 people carriers (one per team), stopping off to participate in a range of community based events and activities across the Dumfries and Galloway region, many of which have been funded by LEADER.
Speaking about the programme of events, Debbie McDowall of Sleeping Giants said: “We have a truly exciting and wide-ranging programme prepared, spanning a lot of different activity areas in line with the core themes of Amaze Me LEADER 2018. We won’t give too much away as we want the delegates to be pleasantly surprised, but we can’t wait to see the reactions.”
Sixty participants will be selected to take part in the event: 20 from Dumfries and Galloway, 20 from Finland, and 20 from the rest of Scotland and other LEADER supported areas across Europe.
Nicola Hill of Dumfries and Galloway LEADER describes her hopes for Amaze Me LEADER 2018: "The future of our rural communities lies in the hands of our young people. Through Amaze Me LEADER we hope to provide a platform for young people from across the region and beyond to share their thoughts and aspirations".
LEADER in Dumfries & Galloway has been supporting rural communities for over 20 years and during that time has awarded grants to over 200 projects spanning the length and breadth of the region, including many projects involving young people.
Applications should be submitted for consideration through the Amaze Me LEADER Eventbrite page.
