£5000 Future Planners Bursary 2024 (Scotland)

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is delighted to announce that it is offering 10 £5000 RTPI Future Planners bursaries to a selection of students who choose to enrol on an RTPI fully accredited Planning Masters in Scotland for this coming academic year.  

Scottish Government has provided grant funding to deliver this bursary scheme.

What this bursary is for

  • Bursaries of £5,000 will be awarded to students on successful enrolment at one of the RTPI's Accredited Planning Schools in Scotland to assist with students’ course fees and living costs for the academic year 2024-25.
  • The  aim of the bursary is is to attract diverse talent from a variety of planning-related disciplines and underrepresented backgrounds to study a fully accredited Planning Masters in Scotland and increase the number of qualified planners.

Application process

To be considered for a bursary, applicants are expected to meet the eligibility criteria detailed in the webform and submit a short blog or vlog of no more than 500 words that clearly articulates:

your interest in planning and why you are pursuing this career (this could include current challenges that affect planning and for the future):
why you believe that you deserve the bursary (this could include resilience to overcome specific issues encountered in pursuit of education);
any evidence of relevant work experience.

Applicants should note that AI detection software will be used in the assessment process.

Applications will open on Monday June 24th, and will close on Friday 09th August 2024.

Provision of bursaries to successful applicants will be made by the end of September.
