Since May this year the organisations behind the Local Governance Review have been encouraging community groups to hold Democracy Matters conversations with communities of place and interest across the country. The outcomes of these conversations are being gathered and will ensure that the outcomes of the review focus on what local people have identified.
To round off this engagement phase they committed to holding a series of regional events to bring together those who have already had Democracy Matters conversations and those new to the conversation to share and discuss the feedback they have received so far.
What is the Local Governance Review?
Scottish Government and COSLA jointly launched the Local Governance Review to consider how powers, responsibilities and resources are shared across national and local government and with communities.
The aim is to strengthen local democracy to improve outcomes in local communities, grow Scotland’s economy for everyone’s benefit, and ensure local communities have more say about how public services in their area are run.
