Delivering capital projects from Scottish islands
Online
DTAS regularly hears from their members in Scottish islands about the challenges they face with capital projects – whether that’s building a new facility or renovating an existing one, there are unique challenges for island communities that make delivering these projects more complex, challenging and expensive than on the mainland.
Working with Scottish Islands Federation and Community Land Outer Hebrides, DTAS organised this event to provide an opportunity for community organisations to connect with each other, share innovative ideas and investigate areas where there could be scope for collaboration.
The event will start with an opportunity to hear from communities who have delivered successful capital projects - the challenges they faced and the solutions they found to difficult problems.
The majority of the time will be dedicated to open discussion, with space to ask questions, share your own experiences and connect with others who are in a similar position.
The forum is open to volunteers and staff from community groups in Scottish islands.
Confirmed contributors (more tbc): Davie Campbell from Shapinsay Development Trust will talk about the 'Smithy Heritage Centre Cafe and restaurant and his experiences from delivering many other projects across the Northern Isles
