Community-led Housing Management & Maintenance
Online
Join the Scottish Islands Federation Island Housing Group as they discuss Community-led Housing Management & Maintenance.
Once the development and build phase of a community-led housing project is underway there are lots of things to consider around local lettings policy, long-term management, and on-going maintenance, and this will be the focus for our next Island Housing Group meeting where we will learn from and discuss some working models.
Growing from an initial knowledge exchange event, our Island Housing Working Group includes members from across the islands and works with Rural Housing Scotland, the Communities Housing Trust and Scottish Government. Its purpose is to:
- Enable island groups with an active role or interest in housing to network, learn from each other, share expertise and build a community of practice.
- Learn about different models of housing suitable for islands.
- Identify common challenges and work together to explore solutions to feed into Local Authority and Scottish Government policy.
- Promote the work and role of community-led housing and facilitate inter-island collaboration.
Activities have included knowledge exchange sessions, meetings with the Minister for Housing to discuss the Rural & Islands Housing Action Plan, and working together on policy contributions.
