A consultation, seeking the views of those who travel to, from, in and around Abington, Douglas, Leadhills and Wanlockhead, is taking place as part of an ambitious feasibility study to improve active travel infrastructure in those areas.

In 2019, the Scottish Government launched a £2 million MaaS Investment Fund to support the testing of the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) concept in Scotland. The first projects supported through Round 1 of the fund were announced in December last year. More information on the fund and Round 1 projects can be found here.

Communities in Carstairs Junction, Coalburn and Coulter are being asked to take part in a walking, cycling and wheeling mapping consultation between now and 18 October, to help create new active travel maps and wayfinding.

Community Active Lanarkshire (CAL) has been awarded a grant from Sustrans’ Places For Everyone programme to undertake an ambitious new active travel project which will enable the Abington, Leadhills and Douglas communities to link up with nearby settlements and services.
Sustrans’ Places For Everyone programme is funded by the Scottish Government and aims to make places safer, healthier and more attractive through increasing and improving every day active travel journeys.

Public health measure lifted for some overseas travellers arriving in Scotland.
Passengers arriving in Scotland from 57 overseas destinations that have similar or lower levels of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection than Scotland will no longer need to quarantine. Travellers from the 14 UK overseas territories will also be exempt.

Further to a statement made earlier this week by the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Loganair can confirm it is working closely with the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) to provide air ambulance capability - as the Service faces the unprecedented challenges borne by the Covid-19 outbreak.
A Loganair Twin Otter aircraft has been converted into an additional air ambulance aircraft, allowing it carry Epishuttle isolation pods for the safe carriage of Covid-19 patients by air.
