Food festivals, workshops and markets celebrating produce from shellfish to whisky are among the 17 local and collaborative projects to receive support from the latest round of the Scotland Food & Drink Partnership’s Regional Food Fund.

A new disability benefit for people of State Pension age opens today for new applications from people living in five local authority areas, including parts of rural and island Scotland.  

Pension Age Disability Payment is the 15th benefit administered by Social Security Scotland. It is for people of State Pension age and over who are disabled or have a long-term health condition that means they need help looking after themselves or supervision to stay safe; or are terminally ill 

A new evaluation of 'Community Led Local Development' or 'CLLD' has been made available by Rose Regeneration in partnership with Scottish Government.

'Community Led Local Development' or 'CLLD' gives local communities the power to tackle their own, local challenges. By building knowledge and skills, supporting new ideas and encouraging cooperation, CLLD helps to create viable and resilient communities.

Rural Housing Scotland (RHS) has announced that it is to close. 

Founded on February 3, 2001, RHS was established with a clear mission: to help rural communities across Scotland address housing needs, alleviate rural homelessness, and improve poor housing conditions. Operating under the tagline “local homes: national voice,” the charity advocated for rural housing solutions and a force for change.

MSPs have backed legislation giving councils a new power to introduce a visitor levy that would raise funding for local visitor facilities and services.

Gaelic projects in Islay will benefit from funding as part of efforts to grow the language. Islay’s Gaelic Centre will receive £150,000 for a virtual experience which will pull viewers into another world as they learn about the island’s history, heritage and geography.

Orkney Islands Council has secured £3 million Scottish Government funding for plans to replace its internal ferry fleet.

The funding will help the local authority develop a planned pilot for two electric ferries and its business case for a replacement internal ferry fleet.

More families across Scotland will get access to the help they need, where and when they need it - as local projects receive a funding boost from the Scottish Government.

Grants of up to £80,000 have been awarded to 12 projects undertaking a range of work, including:
