Music for All are offering an instrument-only funding round to community projects. They are also opening applications to the Harris Foundation Schools Progression Award for schools looking to enhance and expand their music provision.

Established 27 years ago, Music for All has a track record in providing support. Over the past five years alone they have awarded over £300,000 in cash grants, donated hundreds of instruments and equipment to individuals, community groups and educational establishments, and provided free ‘Learn to Play’ experiences for thousands of people.

The charity believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn to play music. They make grants available to address the musical needs of community music groups and educational organisations.

Music for All support projects and initiatives taking place throughout the UK that all aim to bring music to their community and would benefit from a “helping hand” to fulfil their potential in becoming truly sustainable music programmes.

Last year Music for All awarded to grant funding Initium Arts in South Lanarkshire, which supported their four community choirs across Scotland. Their aim is to improve happiness and provide a safe environment for members to express themselves. With the funding from Music for All, Initium Arts has successfully increased membership in all four choirs and is proud to have brought them together in a summer concert.

The Creative Administrator at Initium Arts said:

“The funding from Music for All has allowed us to share our information further and wider than would have been possible without it and we are hopeful that by the end of the year we will have been able to increase our membership further!”

Grants are available under a number of different categories, each with their own criteria and award amounts. See the Music for All website for full details of these. The current round is an instrument-only funding round.
