The Benefits of Shared Workspace’ guidance published

Established by Scottish Government in 2008, the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) is an infrastructure centre of expertise that does all its work in collaboration with a range of partners across the private and public sectors.

Their activities are targeted toward progressing the ten infrastructure-related outcomes agreed upon in their 2019-24 Corporate Plan which are linked to Scotland’s National Performance Framework and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This month they have published ‘The Benefits of Shared Workspace’ guidance – a guide which  focuses on the main benefits of shared workspace and provides examples of what could be achieved to help inform and shape project briefs and business cases.

It's widely recognised that sharing workspace is an important part of making Scotland’s public sector estate more efficient and effective - while also helping improve service delivery. Sharing buildings can also promote prosperity and a fairer distribution of wealth through helping people have equal access to jobs and workplaces in as many areas of Scotland as possible, including rural and island communities.

To help public bodies see the benefits of shared workspace, the SFT Asset Strategy team has created a handy five-page guide that can be used by the public sector to help them shape their business cases as strong reasons to co-locate.
