Cooperation with a famous spirits land

Local Action Group "West Charente - Cognac land" (France) strategy contains 3 axes for the next 2014-2020 LEADER program:

1. Regaining the Charente river, its tributaries and diversification of the tourist offer

2. Promote a sustainable and diversified agriculture

3. Preserving and transmitting traditional architectural heritage, skills and local culture

We have not yet decided what will be exactly our transnational cooperation subject. This cooperation offer is a first step in a long cooperation project!

Local and transnational cooperation take an important place in our plan, especially with another Local Action Group in Europe that have an important production of spirits. That is why we think about Scotland. Our cooperation plan needs to be specified with the LAG interested in it, but some subjects that could be planned:

• Diversify the agricultural economy in order to "don't put all our eggs in one basket" and to follow the growing interest for consumers to environment and eating local. Our territory is the first area of production for the famous wine spirit Cognac, that is both an advantage and a drawback.
• We can imagine a common project on spirits production or services to increase knowledge exchange, cooperation and innovation between our two spirits products.
• We can find a wider subject on the way to increase the benefits of such renowned production and products on our territory and so on.
