The Scottish Government has committed to developing a £5 million Islands Bond fund, providing up to £50,000 each for up to 100 households by 2026, by providing financial support for island residents to remain in their community, or to encourage people to move there.

More than 200 seasonal countryside rangers and operations staff posts will be created to support sustainable and responsible rural tourism.

The rangers will help tackle issues such as littering, antisocial behaviour and public toileting in rural tourism hotspots through patrols, liaising with local communities, landowners and police.

The Scottish Government are running a series of workshops to consult with the local residents on the Islands Bond fund aimed at retention of residents and promotion of Scottish islands as a great place to live.

Cathy was a graduate of Cohort 2 of the Communities Leading Tourism course and represents the  Findhorn Village Conservation Company, formed in 2011 to further the achievement of sustainable development of the community and land in particular, TFVCC is led and managed by a volunteer board of local residents.

Visit Scotland are opening a new fund to support businesses which were impacted by the Omicron variant but not eligible for previous funding rounds in 2021.

The popular Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund has received additional funding to support organisations and groups working with communities. You can still apply on Museums Gelleries Scotland website before the deadline on 18th March.
